You have several options to choose from when looking at ways to fix or edit your registry. Windows has a free registry editor built into it. If you go to Start and then click on Run, type in regedit.exe and that will open up the registry for you to see the entries. If you know what you are looking for, you can then edit the registry to fix errors. But if you don’t know what to look for, then your can download a free registry cleaner that will try and fix errors for you.

If you are editing your own registry, once you login you will see 2 different panels, one on the left and one on the right. The left hand side has the entries in a tree format and the right hand pane shows the individual values that each entry has. You also have the option of editing, adding or deleting entries and keys.

If this all sounds too complicated for you (and why should you know all this technical mumbo-jumbo!) then you can download a registry cleaner that will scan your registry, find errors and fix them for you. You only have push a few buttons to get the cleaner started and then another one to fix the errors. This option is for those who can’t and don’t really want to learn more about how the PC actually works.

So as you can see, a free registry editor is available in two different formats. You can do it yourself or download a tool that will do the work for you. Both options, when done correctly, should improve the performance of your PC greatly.
